The Statistics

  • In 2019 the global share of women as board directors in major financial services firms was 23%
  • A third of all board positions in the UK’s FTSE 100 companies are now held by women.
  • It’s been found that black women fare the worst in terms of progression in financial firms.
  • Major financial firms in the UK have made little to no progression in closing the gender pay gap.


  • Firms which appointed a female CFO also had higher profitability.

At #YesSheCan, we are optimistic this can change. However, change can only happen when leaders from the top make a visible and long-lasting shift internally. This can include transforming recruitment processes, breaking down stereotypes and gender bias and engaging women at every level of the industry.
